Leo, the Lion
Leo, the fifth sign of the zodiac, represented by the lion, “The King of Beasts”.
This mythology is based on the story of Hercules and the Nemean Lion. Hercules was the son of the great god Jupiter
and mortal woman, Alcmena.
Juno, who is Jupiter’s jealous wife because of his numerous love affairs, was dead set against Hercules since he was a baby.
When Hercules was a young man, he was bound to do 12 heroic and desperate undertakings, known as the 12 Labors of Hercules.
Now his first labor was to kill the Nemean Lion. He was not able to kill it with arrows but with his bare hands. He wrestled with it and the Nemean Lion was strangled to death. In the process, Hercules finger was bit off and Hercules got off lightly.
